Finding A Passion Business – Minimizing the Risk of Being an Entrepreneur

Your day job has a central role in Zaggtime’s low-risk approach to becoming a full-on entrepreneur with your own passion business.

We assume you don’t yet have the financial freedom to up and quit your job to pursue your dreams and a passion business full-time, which means at this stage of your journey you’re going to be spending a lot of time doing tasks that, while not contributing directly to your loftier goals, are still a necessary part of your work routine. But how can you spend all that time at a job that is unrelated to your real ambitions without considering it wasted, and without resenting it and becoming a toxic presence to your co-workers?

We have a strategy for this. We think of our entire professional life together as one whole company made up of two divisions.

Division 1 is the day job,

it takes up a lot of time and attention, but the steady income it brings in is (at this point) indispensable. The reliable funds brought in by Division 1 in turn support the entrepreneurial activities of Division 2.

Division 2 is where your passion is,

it has the potential to explode into a high income generating entity that’s capable of financially supporting itself. When that happens and the small and steady income of Division 1 is no longer needed, you can start considering an exit strategy from Division 1, but in the meantime both divisions are serving a valuable purpose together.

This is just one way the Zaggtime strategy influences the psychology that is vitally needed to make the kind of big life changes we are after. We’ve said previously that for Zaggtime to work, you’ll need the trust and confidence of your boss so you’ll be allowed the independence and space to work on your own more meaningful projects. You’ll never get that by arriving at the office resenting your work, your boss, your co-workers. By understanding the day-job as Division 1 in your masterplan, an uninspiring yet vital financial component, you can bring the enthusiasm and ingenuity that is normally reserved for your passion projects into your day job. If you have trouble bringing that energy to work this shift in perspective can be a fantastic way to turn your attitude around.
