the Gestalt theory

The Gestalt theory for changing your life

The human brain is the most fascinating thing on earth. There are more than seven billion of them in operation right now, and no two are alike. However, there are some elements of thought process that we all share, one of which is called the gestalt theory.

The Gestalt theory refers to our perception of a normal and unified whole. We look at our own lives as having a certain gestalt, and if something changes or becomes disordered, our minds insist that we make a change and restore order. For example, if you enter a room and see a painting is hanging at a slight angle, your sense of gestalt demands that you straighten the frame. When we sense disorder, our instinct and habit is to return to the former order, to revert back to what we were formerly comfortable and familiar with.

So what happens when we realize that the comfortable and familiar is actually the source of disorder? That painting is crooked again every time you walk in the room! Do you resign yourself to fixing it every day? Do you give up and let it hang askew?

No way. Take the painting off the wall and fix something. Put it in a new frame, hang it on a different wall, or maybe just put the damn thing in the garage.

This is what we go through when we come to understand that our job, which should be a source of order, has become a negative force. It’s supposed to be a foundation of our gestalt, but instead it’s stopping us from reaching our goals and potential. That realization will set off an irreversible mental change: our gestalt expands and we insist on ridding ourselves of something that has become dis-satisfactory.

The search for a new normal is the rollercoaster ride. Certain things are needed to facilitate the path of growth and change you are now on. Time must be invested in acquiring new information and resources. The support of like-minded individuals and guidance of mentors will become necessary. You will start to seek out what you need to make the new idea become a reality. This is how our amazing minds work. Once we see the problem and resolve to fix it, we will invent and implement a strategy.

This is the journey of Zaggtime. Every member of our community has reached the point where we are no longer satisfied with the current reality, so we take real and deliberate actions every day to create the new normal that we demand. Our advantage is that, while we are beyond our comfort zones, we’re not alone. We get constant support from others in the same situation, and feedback and advice from mentors who’ve been there and succeeded.

But don’t quit your job just yet. Our approach is to join the New Rich in a low-risk manner by first building passive income streams and side projects. The next thing we’re going to talk about on the Z is how to do that without losing your job.
