What Stops Us From Moving Forward?
I’ve made it my personal mission to study and become an authority in the subject matter… “What Stops Us From Moving Forward”?
I’ve always felt there had to be something more out there for me – something better, that comes from living with purpose, on your own terms, and achieving financial freedom. The problem was I had been conditioned from the start at a young age – to set my alarm clock and force myself out of bed; to sit in traffic; commit to a job that doesn’t use my true gifts and talents. Being stuck in a stuffy office all day long… saying “yes boss”, “no boss.” Putting in all my efforts to make someone else rich. And coming home exhausted; and finding my self living paycheck to paycheck. Shockingly, most of us do this every single day. So, what is stopping us from moving forward?
Does this sound like you? Where you have great opportunities in front of you, and you want to act on them, but doubt creeps in? You feel afraid, because you might make a mistake? And because of fear and limiting beliefs you stay the course in what you have been doing, only to shuffle the ambition to experience more passion, purpose and abundance into the back of your mind.
“How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?”– Charles Butkowski, Factotum, 1975
Because we are conditioned this way, most people don’t take advantage of the many business opportunities available to them and create their own economy and live on their own terms. They are full of fear and limiting beliefs, and unable to step out of the status quo into the world of entrepreneurship (the unknown).
And when you get in your head, you’re dead… engaging in negative thinking “What if I fail?” “What if it doesn’t work?” “What if people say things about me?” “What if it’s too much hassle?” “What if it takes too much time?” This negative thinking or what is also called “stinking thinking” is what prevents you from moving forward!
The struggle of social and mental conditioning is real. Often there is too much fear to take action – because nobody wants to give their all only to be vulnerable, at-risk, and/or disappointed. These debilitating stories you create in your own head keeps you zigging around in circles, going nowhere fast, living a life of mediocrity and being unfulfilled.
Successful people that live the life of their dreams are better at finding and creating opportunity, and better at making decisions about which opportunities to bet on… and taking courageous action. Because they have conditioned their brain to know their values, what they want, and they have abolished all fear and limiting beliefs about themselves. They are able to navigate a world where change is accelerating, and uncertainty is increasing… a world that demands new models for thinking about how things work.
Creating opportunity is about more than just thriving in an unstable, sometimes scary world. It’s about becoming the best version of yourself and creating a life where you have all the opportunities you need to reach your full potential.
“People don’t take opportunities because the timing is bad and the financial side is unsecure. Too many people are overanalyzing. Sometimes you just have to go for it.” Michelle Zetland, CEO cyber security company
