Digital businesses are some of the most successful enterprises in the world. Today, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple are the USA’s most successful companies, and they are all in the digital/online, ecommerce, and technology sectors. These vertical markets hardly existed a generation ago. And for someone who is willing to step outside the status quo and look for a way to make a bigger difference by leveraging the advancement of the digital economy, business development is simpler and more affordable than ever before in history. Never has it been better to become a digital entrepreneur, start an online business and create the income, lifestyle, and freedom you want on your own terms.
Whats happening in the world is scary, but full of opportunity
If taking advantage of the business opportunities available does not motivate you enough, beware that you might be forced into becoming an entrepreneur out of desperation. According to Futurist Thomas Frey, 2 Billion jobs will be displaced by 2030 due to artificial intelligence, and technology. Many people over the next 15 years will be forced out of a job and need to find other employment or start a business to survive. While some of what’s happening in the world is scary, we each have the potential to take personal responsibility and change our financial destiny. Everyone, no matter their age, needs to focus on keeping their entrepreneurial and digital skills fresh, stay current with social dynamics, and even set up an online business We each need to make sure there’s something to fall back on in a crisis situation.
I’ve always been motivated by opportunity and the desire to experience more in my life. I had the feeling there has to be something more, something better out there – something that comes from living with purpose and achieving financial freedom. The problem is we have been conditioned right from the start to set alarm clocks and force ourselves out of bed into cars – to sit in traffic, commit to a job, an office, a place of work, saying “yes, boss”, “no, boss” – coming home at nights tired and frustrated, feeling purposeless, and living paycheck to paycheck. Amazingly, we continue to do this every single day.

We are missing out on opportunities because we are conditioned to take orders
But because we are conditioned to work for someone else and take orders, most people don’t have the know how and confidence to take advantage of opportunities to start a business and live life on their terms. “What if I fail?” “What if it doesn’t work?” “What if people say things about me?” “What if it’s too much hassle?” “What if it takes too much time?” The struggle of social and mental conditioning is real. Often there is too much fear to take action – nobody wants to give their all only to be vulnerable, at risk and/or disappointed.
What’s even worse is the inaccurate information being highlighted by friends who love you and want you to be safe. Watch out for family members who don’t really ‘get’ what’s happening in the world today, especially the new digital economy. It is up to you to develop discernment, question people’s real knowledge and qualifications as advisors and, sometimes, their motives as well. If they don’t’ have an online business, i would not take advice from them about starting one.
When you start taking action to build your dream business and lifestyle, you are going to make mistakes. You will stumble a few times, maybe in a big way, so that many label your incidents “failure”. Some may even laugh at you and wonder why in the world you tried something so out of the box. Others could criticize you and call you crazy because they are terrified by their own fear of failure. People will talk behind your back, question your motives, and undermine your efforts because, quite frankly, you are doing what they only wish they could do. The most hurtful is when those people are the closest to you.

There are only a few skills needed to start an online business
Surprisingly, there are only a few critical skills that will determine your readiness and success in starting and online business. Fortunately, no specific genetics or education are required. In fact, with a little knowledge, common sense, passion to achieve your goals, and unstoppable action you can succeed as a digital entrepreneur.
Learning the skill to set up an online business is like working out – it takes practice and builds up like a muscle over time. In the beginning, when you try to lift a heavy weight, you might think “gosh, I can’t do this.” However, when you start small, take daily action and believe, you will get more entrepreneurial and digitally smarter. Before you know it, what used to feel impossible becomes effortless. It’s actually quite simple – consistent and persistent action on the fundamental steps to starting an online business will ultimately, get you what you want.
