Make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change
Make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change. Designing the life and business you love sounds harder than it is when you actually do it. Simple steps lead to pretty fantastic outcomes. Where you start is not what matters; instead, the choices you make about where you are determined to finish are everything. The choices you make will determine if, when, and how fast you create the income, lifestyle and freedom you want… and take action toward achieving it.
“The three C’s of breaking into your best life: you must make a choice to take a chance on your life, or your life will never change.” – Anthony Robbins, Personal Mastery teacher
Choose greatness over futility and enjoy the ride
Making choices will take you on new paths of adventure, with new experiences – both good and bad. Regardless of the outcomes, it’s the many different experiences you have on your journey that help you become the best version of you and reach your full potential.
Over my lifetime as an employee working for someone else… I often had the feeling of futility that comes with jobs that where pay is based on time, rather than results. What’s the use of all your hard work, if you’re only going to be “punished” with more work so that you can stay in the office for the same number of hours?
For me, I like work… where the harder I work, the more money I make. That’s an attitude many other entrepreneurs can get on board with! Unfortunately, that’s not how a lot of jobs work, which can be extremely frustrating if you have the entrepreneurial mindset. For entrepreneurs, it’s natural that you would want your incredible motivation to have some kind of material payoff, and feel unfulfilled or even misused when it doesn’t.
Entrepreneurs are most fulfilled when rewarded for completed tasks. That way, the more tasks they complete, the more rewards they get. It also gives them a lot more freedom to decide when to work on what. And it opens up the opportunity for travel more conveniently, which is something many – though not all – enjoy!
“With every problem, there is always a gift if you look hard enough, ask the right questions, and are committed to finding it. – Anthony Robbins, Personal Mastery teacher
Make these 7 choices to change your life
The following example illustrates the importance of making choices in creating a better life. A famous baseball player once stopped to watch a sandlot game. One boy stood off to the side, afraid to join in. A short while later, the reluctant boy recognized the ballplayer watching from the sidelines. The two began talking, and the boy asked, “Could I become a famous ballplayer like you?” After some thought, the pro replied, “Yes, but first you have got to make a choice to get in the game and play.”
Every successful person living the life of their dreams started by making a courageous choice and then took action to get in the game. For me, I decided to do just that – get into the game by designing my dream life and business. I cut myself off from any other possibility. There is no plan B. When I make a choice, I commit to achieving it – quitting is not an option. I will do everything it takes to make it happen.
The following is a short list of the choices you need to make to change your life:
- Choosing to make a change,
- Choosing what you really want,
- Choosing to explore new business opportunities,
- Choosing to commit to taking action,
- Choosing to invest in knowledge and skills training,
- Choosing to believe you can achieve your goal, and
- Choosing to persist and not give up.
“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.” – John Pierpont Morgan, financier and banker
Make the choice to take a chance on living your best life
I chose to discover what I truly wanted in my life. I chose to develop a success mindset to stay on track. I chose to explore the world of entrepreneurship and winning in business. I chose to role-model what others before me did so I could shorten my path to success. I chose to learn about the digital economy and develop online business skills. I chose to become more efficient and productive to ensure I had the time to work on what was crucial for my future. I chose to get healthy so I would have the energy to do it all. Most importantly, I made a choice to take a chance to change my life forever.
Choose to be one of the few who does vs. the many who doesn’t. Don’t be like Jim Carrey’s father. Jim Carrey, the famous actor and comedian, and his father offer a great lesson on the importance of taking a chance and going for what you want. Jim Carrey’s father loved comedy and had great comedic skills, but he made the decision not to pursue comedy because he didn’t believe it was possible to make a living at it and fully support his family. Instead, he took the safe route with an accounting job. Eventually, Jim’s father was fired from his job. He struggled to feed and support his family. Jim was only twelve years old at the time but learned a valuable lesson – that is, you could fail at what you don’t want, so you might as take a chance on doing what you love.
“Man is free at the moment he wishes to be.” – Voltaire, French Enlightenment writer, historian and philosopher
Life is finite – there is an end for all of us. We tend to think we have more time but the reality is you don’t have all the time in the world to break into your best life. You must choose to make it your life purpose to find, stand for and experience your passion. Don’t waste your time wishing for something better. No one is going to invite you to the party of success – you have to get there on your own. So make the choice to get in the game of designing the life and business you love, then do everything it takes to achieve it.
Make the choice to create the income, lifestyle and freedom you want
Do not feel as if you have to stay in a “traditional” career just because people have told you need to do what everyone else is doing… that is go to school, get a job and be an employee – taking orders from someone, and making someone else rich… your entire life. The truth is, we all have the capability to be successful in just about anything. You just need to choose what it is you want to do, then start using your incredible energy resources to figure out what you need to do to succeed, then do it. Yes, it really is that simple!
You will find most fulfillment when pursuing something that interests you, at a pace you choose, with results that satisfy you. Conversely, you will be least fulfilled when you feel that you are being artificially restrained. The feeling that you are just following orders – especially orders that have no functional reasoning behind them… is abhorrent to you.
Design your life so that your individualism is an asset, not a liability. There are always ways to change your current lifestyle so that it fits better with what you really want in the world. If you’re feeling unfulfilled, make a choice to take a chance on your best life, and make changes today!
Take advantage of your nose for opportunities. Identify gaps in the market, places where innovation is needed, or new ideas need to be explored. Then develop the skills and figure out ways to fill them.
By jumping on these opportunities, you can promote a sense of variety and change in your life, which can help buoy you through some of the drier, more repetitive, less autonomous stretches that every life has from time to time.
“Don’t just randomly hope that pleasure will somehow show up. Set yourself up for ecstasy, make room for it.” – Anthony Robbins, Personal Mastery teacher
